Parent Teacher Organization
About the Yick Wo PTO
When parents are involved in their children’s education, the children do better in school.
Yick Wo Elementary School relies on the active support of parents for school activities such as field trips, art projects, gardening, classroom projects, cooking, yard supervision, and snack time.
The PTO always needs parents who can donate their time as school volunteers or PTO officers and committee members.
Local, state and federal funds do not cover all of our school’s program costs. PTO fundraising efforts allow our students crucial activities such as P.E., fieldtrips, poetry, art, and music.
The PTO is a non-profit 501c3 organization comprised of parents, teachers, staff, alumni, and community friends. We exist to facilitate communication between parents and staff and to raise money for enrichment programs and school needs insufficiently funded by local, state and federal sources.
Membership is open to all parents, staff and community members interested in supporting the school. There are no dues. To join, come to any meeting.
Meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria. They usually last about one hour. Children are welcome and childcare is provided.
Agendas are posted before the meetings on the Yahoo group and on the PTO bulletin board.
